I often import large files that contain new and/or existing contacts. Before importing, I have to manually “clean” the data set given to ensure contacts that are added are not under existing Sales Rep. This process is very time-consuming due to the fact that some company domains vary. For instance: johnsmith.com is under sales rep Jane already. However, johnsmith.com.uk is added as “new” company and assigned to a different sales rep despite it being already prospected by Jane. Is there any way to prevent this without individually going through the data manually or without a data enrichment system? I was thinking of a workflow but no equation seem possible. Any ideas or best practices would help greatly.
Hi @PPob12,
The easiest solution that comes to mind is to simply select “Don’t overwrite” on the contact owner field in the mapping step during import:
“When a record in your import matches a record that already exists in HubSpot, the existing value is overwritten with the new value by default. To keep existing data as-is, select Don’t overwrite.”
Best regards!
