Website Redesign URL Changes

Hi, we are going through a website redesign and are going to be switching to a marketplace theme using the Hubspot Staging Tool.

If we also want to change some of our URL structures (for example www.maindomain/products/phone to www.maindomain/service/phone) would we want to change this during the content staging process or would we want to change it after the redesign of the page is done?

Hi @SEsposito4

Personally, I would create the new page, leaving the old page live, then add a Redirect Rule to send traffic (and Google) from the old URL to the new URL when you are ready.

And, I would build the new page in the Staging Environment so when it’s pushed to the live site it’s ready to go.

This will help you stay in good favor with people and search engines.

And, I would resubmit the sitemap.xml to Google Search Console once your new site is live. Then keep an eye on any issues that come up.

Have you set up the Google Search Console Integration?

Keen to hear what advice everyone else has to offer!

Have fun

Mike

Hi @SEsposito4,

You can update it in Content Staging. HubSpot will automatically detect the URL change and create a 301 redirection.
