Video analytics

Hi everyone!

I started to use new types of videos in HubSpot, which allows to see some video analytics (views and video retention).

When I am checking the data, I see that the numbers of views and video retention (views per second) have different amount of views. For example there were 100 views for a video during the day and the video retention for the 00:00 (in the beginning of the video) is 80 views.

Is there a reason why the amount of views are not matching? Does it depend on cookies acceptance or some other factors?

Hi @tderbikova,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community!

I wanted to share this knowledge base article on the video metrics definitions:

  • Video views: the number of times your video loaded on your page in a visitor’s browser.
  • Video retention: a measure of which parts of your video content were played.

It would make sense that the video retention metric is less than the views since the views means the amount of times the video loaded in a contact’s browser.

Hope this helps!

Best,

Kristen
