upload file

Hello

i want to change lifecycle by upload the excel. but it’s wired that some data couldn’t been changed! E.G the value in excel is lead, but in company still Opportunity. do you know why?

Hi @Jaylin,

It sounds like you’re importing companies and expecting that the column “Lifecycle stage” in your import file updates the company record in HubSpot accordingly. Could you confirm this part please? It’s not 100% clear in your initial message.

If that’s what you’re trying to do, keep the following in mind:

  • First, check for import errors on your recent import: Review and troubleshoot record import errors
  • Your import file must either include “Company domain name” or the “Record ID”. Without it, HubSpot will not update existing company records, even if, for example, the company name matches. It will create duplicates because the unique identifier is missing: Deduplicate records in HubSpot

If you’re still unsure, please do the following:

  • Restart the import process (don’t finish it) but take a screenshot the mapping step and share it here.
  • Share a screenshot of the error screen for the original import.
  • Please pick a company record that you expected to update but that didn’t and share which cell value for “Company domain name” and “Lifecycle stage” you had in the Excel file and which field values that company record in HubSpot has for “Company domain name” and “Lifecycle stage”.

Here are things that I think may have happened:

  • You didn’t include the company domain name and duplicates were created.
  • There were mapping errors, for example, on the lifecycle stage field.
  • You didn’t import into the company object.

Best regards

Hey Jaylin, you can try mapping the fields between Excel and HubSpot before initiating an import into HubSpot. This way, you ensure that the lifecycle stage is updated as you’d like. There are excel connectors in HubSpot Marketplace like Coefficient that enables you to do this. You can also automate this process with the same tool as well.
