It’s quite basic, but going for a hike in the woods seems to be the refresh/reset button for me to get the creative juices flowing again. --- This post was migrated from connect.com and was originally published at an earlier date.
I’m with Danny - just need to walk away for a bit and bring your attention to something enjoyable and inspiring like nature or music. --- This post was migrated from connect.com and was originally published at an earlier date.
I have to agree with you both. Getting out for a walk to shift focus really does refresh my brain. I would also add a good night of rest usually cures a lot of my mental blocks. Sometimes I am just too tired to do it all. --- This post was migrated from connect.com and was originally published at an earlier date.
Agreeing with Danny and Sean on getting out in nature to decompress and reset. Mine is either getting lost snowboarding in the mountains or surfing the ocean. As for jumpstarting my teams, we love to do spiral sessions to juice up the creativity. Basically, we get in a room, play some good tunes, bring snacks, fidget toys and then have intentional brainstorms focused on creating “memories from the future” (basically an envisioned ideal future state). Here’s the activity outline: (30-60 mins) - A lead asks creative prompts and the group just dumps out ideas. A note taker is jotting them all down on big sheets of paper. The point is to remove judgement and let it flow bc behind a crazy idea is usually a really good one. *break* (15-30 mins) - Everyone in the group gets (10-15) stickers. The big sheets of paper have been pinned up and everyone goes around and puts a sticker on their favorite ideas. *break* (30-60 mins) - The top (3-5) ideas are selected and the team has an effective conversation about how to make that idea a reality. … If nothing else, the team spent (2-3 hours) flexing their creative muscles in a safe environment without hierarchy or judgement holding them back. People are fired up because they felt hear and got to switch things up! --- This post was migrated from connect.com and was originally published at an earlier date.
When I hit a wall, I head back to the office after our youngest goes to bed, clear the whiteboard, crank up some bass-heavy, lyric-free music, and dive into whatever project has been waiting for my focus. I find that my creativity hits a wall when I’m feeling guilty about tasks that are lingering, especially when others are depending on me. Once I’ve gotten through the tasks I’ve been avoiding, my creativity returns. --- This post was migrated from connect.com and was originally published at an earlier date.
