We decided to connect Hubspot to Google ads because we want to feed the Google algorithm with our “offline conversions”. A big part of our sales funnels is via phone call.
After a few days of test, we don’t see the conversions recorded in Google ads in Hubspot and Hubspot does not send events to Google ads.
We import the contacts from Formidable Form in WordPress to Hubspot via Zapier, I suspect that this might be the problem because in this way all the referral information might be not available to HS. Essentially my best guess is that Hubspot is not accessing the referral link with UTM/hsa parameters, therefore, is not able to attribute new contacts/deals to Google ads. Is this a reasonable guess?
<Attempts to solve the issue>
- The tracking template seems correct. I see the Hubspot parameters in my URLs
- The Hubspot Pixel is firing via GTM
- Our contacts are correctly tagged as “Lead" when they enter our sales pipeline.
Probably you are right, as you are importing contacts to HubSpot. According to HubSpot, if you’re using the HubSpot Forms API, you must include the parameters to pass the page URL and the HubSpot tracking cookie.
Is there a reason not to use HubSpot forms? HubSpot forms, pop-up forms, or non-HubSpot forms that use the HubSpot Forms API must be used to capture form submissions on your pages to track ads conversion according to HubSpot.
Btw, do you see Google Ads (Campaign and Ads) in HubSpot Ads? When you say conversion, are you referring to contacts created?
We are not using Hubspost form because we have some specific needs that are difficult to satisfy with the native form (e.g. multi-steps form, possibility to recover the application process, necessity to automatically visualize the data after submission, etc).
I do see the Google ads campaign in the Hubspot ads, but I see only one contact created that is not correct and I don’t see any contacts entered in the lifecycle “leads” or “opportunity”.
When I cross-check the data I see that there are 6 new conversions in Google ads that correspond to 6 new contacts entered in the life stage of “lead”, one of them even in “opportunity”. I don’t see any contact in the life stage lead or opportunity in the Hubspot ads dashboard.
@_Alessio_ HubSpot & Google Ads use cookies to track the user. It looks like you were not able to pass that cookie value to HubSpot. As a result, HubSpot could not identify the contacts that are being created via Google Ads.
I think you need to work with your developer to pass that cookie to the HubSpot form. If you are using HubSpot tracking code on your website, then HubSpot is already dropping that cookie in users’ browsers. You need to pass that value to the HubSpot form along with contact data using HubSpot form API.
@_Alessio_ Yes, we had used hutk once to resolve the cookie issues, so I think it’d work for you as well. However now HubSpot refers this as a legacy, so you might want to check the new developer doc as well.
