STORYTELLING

I just realized how impactful storytelling is to a business. No wonder ads usually seem like a Segway only for the greatest ads to reconnect beautifully, like Coca-Cola making Santa red, and Christmas is now permanently associated with those visuals. “Taste the Feeling”.

It’s not just about facts on what you offer the market no one else does, but rather the emotional connection, cars sell the longing for adventure and freedom, luxury brands will say they are more than the commodity they’re selling but a new class that stands out.

This was indeed an eye opener.

Hey @EAmaechi

You’re absolutely right. People don’t buy based on logic alone; they connect emotionally first and justify later.

I would like to add a few pointers to add to this, extracted out of my own efforts as a marketer.

  • Storytelling must be consistent across ads, website, email, and sales.
  • The emotional message should match the customer experience.
  • The hero in your ‘storytelling’ should not be your brand or your product, the customer is always the ‘hero’ and your solution simply plays the ‘supporting role’ (This is super-important to understand).

Great point, tho. But it’s wonderful how many layers are to this when you try to apply it practically.
