Q: I’d like to link to the ‘preferred language’ that someone has selected in the landing page to a file download in the language that they have selected.
Short A: Not gonna happen.
Longer A:
Tried to find an extensive thread on this topic, but HCF search isn’t as helpful as we’d like it to be sometimes.
Anyway, here’s the deal.
We can include a smart CTA on a Thank You Page (TYP) as long as the triggering criteria already exists in the contact record. That being said, if a contact has disabled cookies on the browser, or uses another browser/machine, the smart CTA will still not trigger as we desire. (expected behavior)
Regarding trying to trigger a smart CTA on a TYP based on criteria collected on the sending Landing Page … not gonna happen. (not recommended) Basically, there’s triggering mumbo jumbo that HubSpot doesn’t permit to occur in time to take effect on the resulting TYP.
Vaguely remember one of the devs posting a coding solution here on the community, but it’s not for the beginner, certainly isn’t supported by HubSpot, and is probably too big a risk to take when it comes to consistent operation when triggering expected deliverables. (opinion? @tjoyce)
Best alternative solutions …
-1- Deliver your language-specific via email based on the original collected criteria -- easily handled by a workflow and quite scalable.
-2- Display multiple CTAs on your TYP (one for each language) -- easy to implement if you only need to offer a couple language options.
-3- Use a different forms solution that integrates with HubSpot and supports TYP redirection based on collected criteria (Typeform). This solution will allow you to send your visitor to a language-specific HubSpot TYP based on a multitude of criteria -- e.g., URL, URL query, etc..
