Sequences: Include previous replies in subsequent emails

Say, we have a two-steps sequence: an initial email and a follow-up after 3 days. The “Threading” checkbox is on.

If the recipient doesn’t reply and doesn’t delete it, then everything works fine: he receives the follow-up email in the same thread, below the initial email. He sees the context - everything is right.

But if the recipient deletes the initial email, then a big problem occurs: when he receives the follow-up email, he doesn’t see the initial email in the thread. He’s out of context.

It happens because the subsequent emails (the follow-up email in this case) doesn’t include the previous discussion. When we usually press “Reply” in Gmail (or another email client), our message will include all the previous messages as a quote. In Sequences, it doesn’t. It’s bad.

Please, upgrade Sequences so the subsequent emails include previous replies. It should work like if press “Reply” button in an email client.

Hi there,

Caitlin from HubSpot here! Sequences should pull the bodies of the previous emails into the body of the email that’s being sent to the contact, so your contact should always get context on the previous emails that were sent.

Best,

Caitlin

This was a question/answer from 5 years ago, maybe something has changed but when I create a sequence with follow-up mails, the content of the previous mail(s) is NOT added. Apparently you’ve to do it yourself in mail 2, 3, etc..
