My public app is using seamless install flow for couple of months now and it’s working properly so far. Recently, our team wants to update the flow for better user experience. Here’s the change we want: after receiving step=finalize & complete the OAuth code exchange and data storing, our backend would first redirect to our site’s onboarding page for customers to finish the onboarding flow, then redirect them to HubSpot return url after they complete the onboarding.
My concern is would HubSpot expire the return url in a short time so that when the customers complete the onboarding, the return url would fail to redirect, causing them stuck in infinite loading?
Hey @SSun7,
Good to see you back, SSun7! ![]()
The Seamless Install Flow docs may have some detail on timeout behavior, but this might be best answered from hands-on experience.

Hey @GRajput, @Anton, @evaldas – do you have any suggestions for @SSun7 on this?
Thank you!!

Hi @SSun7
As far as I understand, the HubSpot public app install URL does not expire. However, I’m not completely sure about the expiration of the return URL provided during the Seamless Install flow.
Our proposed flow is to complete the OAuth code exchange and save the data first, then redirect the customer to the onboarding page. Once onboarding is completed, the customer would be redirected back to the HubSpot return URL.
I think this should work, but we should confirm whether HubSpot places any time limit on the return URL to make sure the user doesn’t get stuck if the onboarding takes longer than expected.
I hope this helps you out. Please mark it as Solution Accepted and Like to help another Community member.

Hi Gaurav, thank you for replying. However, this reply doesn’t not offer any valid answers to my question on whether return url has an expiration time or if my proposed flow is valid and if it could pass HubSpot team’s review. I wonder if we could tag specialists from HubSpot team on this question.
