Scoring a file view

I need to score when a prospect views a file that I have uploaded to Files, and created a HubSpot link for.

For some reason, I’m being told by Customerservice that while I can set this up in the scoring criteria as a page view, that it won’t score properly, because that file URL isn’t being tracked.

this seems so dumb. I’ve got a bunch of files hyperlinked on my Wordpress website that I want known prospects to be able to access directly - without having to fill in a form.

What are your workarounds? I’ll pay for an integration, I’ll do anything!

nb: i’ve already spoken to HubSpot, and uploading these files as a document still won’t work for document view cannot be scored.

@AOBrien8 ,

Agreed scoring property needs some more love, My workaround as follow:

  1. Create a multi-select property with all the file names that you have.
  2. When the file link visit happens update that property with that value (unsure of the setup so it can be regular WF, or Webhook based, or Custom coded or via Zapier/Make)
  3. Use the property ins the scoring

Best

How do you track “When the file link visit happens”? Since this is not something that HubSpot logs at all

Hubspot can’t necessarily track a file because there is no tracking code embedded in it. For instance, even though a file is uploaded to Hubspot, let’s say a PDF, you could see whether a link was clicked to the PDF, but the PDF itself is not trackable without the script.

You could try creating a custom event to look for that link click ( Create custom events codelessly with the event visualizer ). The only other thought that used to work was the legacy CTAs as those were redirect links like a bitly that used to be good for this, but I know they are sunsetting those old CTAs and I don’t think this is possible with the new ones.
