Salesforce integration - syncing subscription opt-in status

Hello,

I have a question regarding the synchronization of the Subscription properties.

In my setup, custom checkbox fields on Lead & Contact in Salesforce are synchronized with the respective subscription properties. The sync is two-way (the only option available).

Unsubscribing (via a preference page) causes the properties’ value to become ‘Yes’, which syncs succesfully to Salesforce (checkboxes become ‘true’). However, the reverse does not work as intended - subscribing again clears the property and it becomes blank, which does NOT sync over to Salesforce as ‘false’ (possibly because SF checkboxes cannot have a blank value.

Are there any workarounds/solutions? We cannot sync marketing preferences now, which is a total deal breaker.

Hey @KamiKrastanova,

When looking to sync custom email type from HubSpot to Salesforce, as there isn’t a way to sync or set blank value in Saleforce, the best option to sync this property is for the property in Salesforce to be changed to a dropdown selection with values ‘Yes’ and ‘No’.

On my end, I have tried setting this up on my own portal and I’m able to see that the value successfully synced to Salesforce when I opt out and opt back in contact on a particular email type.

Do try it out and let me know if it works for you! Let me know if there’s any further questions on this.
