Removing Companies

Hello.

I sell direct to consumer.

Do I need both “Companies” and “Contacts” ?

Can I remove one of them?

Hi @Vendepormim,

Contacts and companies are two sides of the same coin. Think of companies as an added layer of information about your contacts. Company properties store information such as industry, annual revenue or company address.

HubSpot isn’t asking you to make a decision whether you’re selling to an individual person or to a company. It’s really just an extension of the information found on the contact record – the only difference being that a company can be associated with multiple contacts (while contacts can’t be associated with multiple companies). This association can be automated: Automatically create and associate companies with contacts

HubSpot also has a neat feature for company records called HubSpot insights, pretty much free research on the companies associated with your contacts: Get started with data enrichment

Of course, you don’t have to use them. If you do, some more options open up to you in reporting, list building – and potentially further down the line if you decide to upgrade (workflows, lead scoring etc.).

Hope this helps!

This doesn’t answer the question: he doesn’t use companies as he is direct to consumer. Can he remove the company element from the to page to declutter and simplify the interface for employees?

Hi @HF31, no that is not possible. Best regards!

No. I am in the same position as the asker of the first question, noe of the info that are on the company form are applicable to my contacts. They are looking to start a business not already in business. So if this can’t be removed can it be hidden. For example on the contacts list when you go to crm and choose contacts it is actually extremely annoying. I am a new user one day old and am thinking of leaving because of this. I need simplicity not complexity.

Hey @MKS2010, are you having any issues? The more information, screenshots, and details you can provide, the better I can advise on the next steps.

Also, creating a new post with more details can help us investigate more about it.

Kindly,

Pam

I fully agree with this. Anything that is unessesary is a distraction and clutter. There are plenty of people that are B2C and have no use for company info. For example… We only work with Solopreneurs. We love Hubspot but the clutter we experience associated with companies and company info is really unfortunate.

Hey @JJameson,

One way to streamline is by customizing your view to hide the company-related properties you don’t need. Additionally, you could set up filters or a separate view to focus only on contact-level information. Hopefully, this makes things feel a bit cleaner and more tailored to your workflow!
