Regarding properties data set

As a small business owner, we started with a free Hubspot version where only 10 customized properties are allowed. So we started using existing properties for various purposes. for example: We are using the “About us” property under companies Object for the purpose of inserting the Unique code assigned to the Lead instead of writing about the lead.

So, as we are growing we are planning to switch to a paid version where we can create more than 10 properties. Now I can create a new property name “Unique Code”. Considering that the data inputted at the time of using the free version under the “About us” property, Can we move them to the “Unique code” column from the “About us” column and scrap the “About us” column from the column section?

Not directly in HubSpot, no, but this can be easily achieved with an export / import:

  1. Export your records
  2. Re-import the export file and simply map the column corresponding to the old field (About us) to the new property (Unique code)

While importing records, make sure that you map the record ID. With a mapped record ID, there is a risk for duplicates.

So while it’s not all managed in HubSpot, the entire process will take only 2-3 minutes with the additional step of having an xlsx file.

Can you please explain what you meant when you said “Map the record ID”? I’m unable to understand that.

Hi @Kunti_Rathi,

When you export records from HubSpot, it will automatically add a column for the record ID. During the import process in HubSpot, in the property mapping step, you can map this ID. HubSpot will then identify those records and update them by this ID (the left of the two drop downs).

Thank you. I have 2 question:

1. I use the Source of leads in the Contacts object but I want that filter in the company object view as well. How should I incorporate that as I don’t see the “Source of leads” in the company object?

2. I want to show an employee of a company as an ex-employee as he has left the company. How can I do that in company Object.
