QuickBooks error - the file you specified cannot be opened

I’m frequently getting QuickBooks error the file you specified cannot be opened when the file is already opened on another server. How can I fix it?

Well, at times, the QuickBooks error the file you specified cannot be opened may also occur while printing your forms in QuickBooks. Below are the steps to fix the printing issues in QuickBooks. Have a look:

  • To begin with, open the desktop, then click on the Windows + R keys together and hit the Enter tab on your keyboard.

  • Now, navigate to the Devices and printers icon.

  • Hit right-click on the Device and select Remove the printer facing the issue.

  • After this, exit from the QuickBooks software and hold the Ctrl + Alt + Del keys to access the Task manager.

  • Locate and tap on the QBW32.exe file.

  • Next, select the End task option and then click Yes.

  • Head towards the File Manager.

  • Moving ahead, navigate to the C drive\Program data\Intuit\QuickBooks.

  • Lastly, try to find and rename the file QBPRINT.qbp and then reboot your system.

Hello @DavidDSS, thank you for posting here!

I want to ask where you are getting this error specifically. Inside HubSpot or Quickbooks? After following these steps are you still getting the error? What specific server are you using while getting this error? The more information, screenshots, and details you can provide, the better I can advise on the next steps.

Thank you,

Pam
