Hello! I have created quite a few pages and I have been adding CSS to the Advanced settings of each page and def not practicing DRY. I recently found out tht I can create a child theme within HubSpot and I was wondering if any of you guys knew if I publish the child theme, will it effect any of the pages I created, which is like 20! :-o.
I don’t wnt any of my work to be reverted or messed up in anyway. Just wanted to know if anyone had experience with this or did it themselves. Thank you so much!
Hi @kheyra when you create a child theme, it can be selected for new pages, but it won’t make any changes to your existing pages.
There is an option to change the template for an existing page under the advanced settings, but when you do this it doesn’t change the module ID numbers - those would remain associated to the original parent/marketplace theme and not the child theme unless you manually replace them on the page with new modules once you change to the child theme (drag the module to the page from “theme modules”, rebuild the content, delete the existing module, repeat).
It’s easier to just rebuild those pages with the child theme than it is to try to successfully swap the templates/modules - if you have Pro/Enterprise, I’d use content staging to make it much easier so you can start from a blank version without losing your currently published pages - and this will replace the existing page once published because it retains the meta data, URL, etc. automatically.
