Hello, I have been developing a public app for HubSpot and I have been trying to publish it and I see there are options for pricing plans and a pricing plan that is pay as you go. Does HubSpot configure and take payments for apps on our behalf or do we handle payment processing for apps ourselves?
Hi Dan,
Thanks for the question — pricing plans for public apps can definitely feel a bit unclear at first.
Looping in some community members who’ve published apps and navigated HubSpot’s pricing model before — they may be able to share how payments are handled in practice.
Hey @d-lupo@evaldas@MichaelMa Would you kindly help us here? Any clarity or examples would be really helpful here.
Hope we can get you a solid answer as you prepare to publish.
Best, Victor
Hi @SNSDan
When you publish a public app on HubSpot and define pricing plans (including “Pay As You Go”), HubSpot does not handle payment processing for you. The pricing and plan settings in the app listing are primarily for display purposes within the HubSpot App Marketplace.
You, as the app developer, are responsible for managing subscriptions, billing, and payment collection. This means you need to implement your own payment processing system (e.g., Stripe, PayPal, or any other payment gateway) for charging your users according to the plans you define. HubSpot does, however, allow you to specify plan tiers and pricing details in the Marketplace so users understand your app’s costs before installing it.
