Property sync not working

We have an association to territories and contacts. When a territory is associated to a contact, this should then populate the territory team on the contact record. We have a case where a few contacts are associated correctly but the territory team did not populate on the contact record but is showing on the territory. we have it based off the most recently created territory. Any reason why? in one instance the territory team changed but shouldn’t this still update the field?

Hey @cclark2,

Thanks for bringing this to the community!

To start, I think it’d be helpful to clarify how these changes are being made/ why you’re expecting property value to carry over from the Territory record to the Contact record.

Are you using a Workflow? If so, could you please share a screenshot the workflow you’ve set up. If not, could you please clarify what you’re how you’re syncing this?

Thanks!!

Hi @cclark2,

You’re referring to territory and to territory team - are these synonymous?

If you could share screenshots of the sync property configuration and of an example where it’s not working (please blur or pixelate any confidential information), that’ll help with troubleshooting.

If you’re saying that this is a contact property and it should pull the value of territory team (?) of the most recently created associated territory, it’s most likely that the most recently created associated territory does not have a value. The sync property will not pull the latest value it can find, it will pull the value (or lack of a value) of the most recently created record.

Also keep in mind that sync property, while of instantaneous, might take a moment to reflect the latest changes.

If you’re referring to workflows, then most likely this is due to re-enrollment based on the changed territory team value not being enabled correctly.

Best regards

Yes I attached screenshots to show the first screenshot shows the territory object with the filed that needs to be populated on the contact. the second shows the property settings, and the third pics shows a contact example that is associated but the field is not populated

Hey @cclark2

Based on your screenshots, it seems that you might have a duplicate property on your Territory object. The first two screenshots show the “Team” property that has the value and the last one shows that your sync property syncs with the “Territory Team” property.

@cclark2 like @EugeneAtKiwi has pointed out:

  • Your first and second screenshot show that you’re expecting the “Team” property of the “Territory” record to sync.
  • The third screenshot shows that the sync property is referencing the “Territory Team” property.

While very similar, these are distinct fields.

@seosiri please keep in mind that it is against the community guidelines to share AI responses without disclaimer. It’s especially frustrating if these are wrong and misleading.

  • There is no such thing as a continuous sync toggle.
  • There is no such thing as a property type mismatch in sync properties - HubSpot is automatically setting the sync property to whatever the required type is.
  • HubSpot will automatically backfill existing records.

@cclark2, the tricky part is that the most recently created territory might not always be the one you want to pull the value from, and changes to the territory team may not trigger the update you expect. We use SyncStation for this kind of thing, where you can set rules for which associated record syncs and keep the properties up to date.
