Prevent specific users from submitting form

Hi there,

The same types of people keep submitting their info on my Hubspot form. I’m using Captcha.

They’re offshore development or SEO people. These same people keep manually submitting the form using a gmail address. I don’t want to prevent any free email service from submitting to the form as I’ve had good leads come through gmail.

Is there a way to select a certain email address and prevent that person from submitting the form over and over and over?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @604josh

This is a problem that most businesses experience to some extent. Unfortunately, prevent manual, human spam is very challenging, because humans are able to get around most spam prevention attempts. I’ve not seen any solution by HubSpot or any other form developer that reached any level of popularity. Even if you could block specific email addresses, spammers would just create new ones. Google is probably the best actor to try to improve this by changing the way they issue Gmail mailboxes - perhaps. Although if they do, other services will be used no doubt.

Anyway, the best solution I saw recommended was to simply add a disclaimer to your website form discouraging sales/solicitation submissions. Its not much but it might deter a few.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response. I figured that was the case, just wanted to make sure.

I just blocked certain countries from visiting the site via Cloudflare. It won’t be 100% but maybe it’ll help and clean up the analytics conversions I have set on my form.

Hi,

It seems like it is still true in July 2022 that we cannot block specific email addresses, just domains. Can you confirm?

Thanks!
