I’ve contacted Hubspot Support regarding Server Side support and they told me there is no official support (there are some workarounds from 3rd party members). I said thank and if they could relay it to their engineers that Server Side tracking is essential for many companies as cookies are very blocked and many people use ad block. They told me to post my idea on this forum.
Any chance Hubspot is working on supporting Server Side tracking or would be willing to take it up on the roadmap?
Honestly, as much as I’m trying to understand this issue, I just don’t see the necessity in this.
Did you know that when you install HubSpot’s tag on the website, it runs a JavaScript that sets a cookie on your domain, making it a first-party cookie? And from then on, the script sends all analytical data to HubSpot servers. That’s why we can still see web user data like traffic and session duration, despite the fear of third-party cookie blocking.
I can see how it can improve page loading by removing these tags, but other than that, I still can’t understand the value of server-side tracking for regular business. I think it’s more important for ad network business and for websites that host ad banners by these networks.
In addition. It is complex to implement for data tracking from LI and FB. So if HubSpot could “be the server” for this data as well it would be a USP for HubSpot. And we wouldn’t have open Google cloud servers for this.
@Osnovyanenko - the question / idea expanded: Let use wrap the calls to hubspot in a proxy on our cdn, so that we route through things like Google Tag Manager server side tracking, and the messages are all relayed back to hubspot from our servers, while the user is communicated with our domain, not hubspot domains. Hubspot is quite a bit behind the curve on this - and to use it effectively for audience building, and other quite expensive tools in hubspot, we should prioritize the efficiencies here.
Would be really useful to have this for scenarios where the company has a wide range of conversion options that aren’t necessarily picked up by the website tag, but where the users are ending up in Hubspot.
Same here. Only solution is a hybrid way of integrating Server-side and client-side tracking at the same time. Having a native solution from HubSpot as a server-side provider could be a great way to make other trackign server-solutions obsolete.

This would be really useful. Most of my online leads have the wrong source because users don’t give permission to be tracked until they need to download/view gated content. Server side tracking should help with that.
