Note Body isn't being Imported

I’ve been looking through the HS Community forums and I cannot find a forum that answers my questions as of yet, and the knowledge base articles did not give me specific examples of how I can import contacts with Notes.

In my excel files, I can import contacts and deals fine-- however, notes are it’s own issue.

In the same row, I’ve included in all of the information for

First Name, Last Name, Email, Phone Number, Budget, Lead Status, Deal Name, Pipeline, Priority, Deal Type, and Note Body.

I know I needed to have specific fields completed to import Contacts and Deals, but I don’t know which specific fields I needed completed to import Notes.

I’ve been seeing an error, where it wouldn’t allow me to import notes due to Notes not being formatted as “Note Body” which I switched in the first row.

Now whenever I try to upload notes, using the same formatting I’m using to upload contacts and deals, I get an error message that says “Notes can’t be created. Required properties not mapped.”

I don’t know what this means--as doesn’t Note body exist as notes?

Support asked me “Have you tried clearing the cache, refreshing the page, logging out and logging back into your account, and repeating the importing process?” which I did, that still doesn’t work.

I don’t want a long winded answer, just please let me know what columns are required in my excel files to upload Notes with my contacts, what more am I missing?

Can you confirm that the mapping step looks like this for you?

You might have a contact property called “Notes” and accidentally mapping to that. However, the first dropdown must show “Note properties”.

The moment you select this, the notice at the top should look like this:

The mapping step doesn’t look like that, it looks like this. And I do have a contact property called “Notes” but it doesn’t show up in the contact record.

Bottom line-- I want to import notes to contacts, what format should the import file look like and how can I do that?

The step you have screenshotted above is an import summary, you’ll need to scroll down to show the mapping table. You will then need to follow @karstenkoehler’s instructions by going to the row for note body, changing the ‘import as’ column to ‘note’ and ‘hubspot property’ to ‘note body’ to match his screenshot.

Your screenshot only shows a small section of the mapping step - the summary above the mapping table. Can you please share a screenshot of your entire screen?
