non-HubSpot forms only using label to map

Hi,

When trying to map non-HubSpot forms using HubSpot script, we run into problems.

The HubSpot Knowledge Base states that when using non-HubSpot forms, HubSpot will automatically try to map form fields to existing contact properties in HubSpot using logic in the following order:

  1. field name with contact property internal name
  2. field label with contact property name
  3. field label with contact property internal name
  4. field name with contact property name

In all our test Hubspot is always mapping using HTML tag <label. But We are unable to match “label” with “internal name” or “property name” because we are working with different languages and glyphs.

We were anticipating being able to use input “name” matching hubspot “internal names” of properties (as suggested by docs), but it’s not working and HubSpot support can’t even understand the problem.

How you format non-Hubspot forms to match internal name properties in order to get a proper mapping across languages?

I just created the following form and it worked as expected. Notice my label text the user sees doesn’t match anything in Hubspot.

<form>
 <label for="email">Not a Field</label>
 <input id="email" name="email" type="text">
 <label for="firstname">Not a name</label>
 <input id="firstname" name="firstname" type="text">
 <button type="submit" value="submit">Submit</button>
</form>

Can you post your form HTML and maybe that will help diagnose the issue.
