Next step Property

Hi

I’m looking to create some best practices in my CRM.

For all open opportunites, I’m asking sales to update the “next step” property as follows:

“initials, date of entry & next steps of the deal”. For example.

“ND, 07/08, Demo on 25/08”. or “ND, 07/08, prospect has gone radio, LVM today”.

What am I missing? Am i getting sales to double enter data if they’ve created a task with “next activity column”.

All suggestions welcome,

Tks,

Neal

Hi @NDooly,

Could you explain how exactly you’re going to use this field? Why exactly do sales reps need to maintain this and why is them scheduling a meeting not sufficient?

This definitely feels like double work. A static text field could also cause issues when meetings are rescheduled, for example.

Best regards

I lead the sales function, so this property (with text) allows me to get an brief overview of the specific next steps on each deal without having to speak directly with the AE. The column with date of next activity doesnt give a brief overview of next steps, its just a date. The text within the property is another safeguard to make sure that the AE’s are updating their deals in the CRM (free version).

@NDooly if you need more information than just the activity date, at a glance from the contact index page, yes, a manually maintained property is the only option in the free CRM.

Keep in mind however that this is probably one of the things that will be neglected on a busy day. It is double work and will probably feel like a chore to reps.

Hope this helps!

Karsten, I always agree with everything you say but this field is absolutely vital if teams are forecasting as is the only field that sales managers can see when reps are using the forecasting tool.
