+1 for an update on this… @IMcDonald is there any update on this at all? Clients are asking every other week.

Any update? Nothing for 6 months is a bit frustrating :grimacing:
This new forms editor has some great features but does a few things worse than the previous one: drag and drop functionality is laggy, field values don’t update when the property is updated in the CRM, when you add conditional logic the new field(s) goes to the bottom of the page rather than under the field its linked to, if you want to delete displayed values from a long dropdown list you have to do a weird horizontal scroll to reach the delete button and then you have to click show more again, if you’ve clicked on a field sometimes you can’t drag and drop it until you X out of the edit field menu…and possibly other things I’ve forgotten. I wish they had added the new features to the old editor instead.

Hi @IMcDonald, Right now, multi-step forms only validate at the very end (on submission). This creates a poor user experience—if a user skips or misses a required field in an earlier step, they have to go back step by step to figure out where the error is.

It would be much more effective if validation happened at each step, so users get immediate feedback without having to retrace the entire form.

Has anyone found a workaround for this? Maybe using JavaScript events or another approach to trigger validation step by step? Would love to hear if someone in the community has solved it in the meantime.

Hey folks,

I’m Ian, the Product Manager for Forms. Thanks for sharing all of your feedback, we hear you. We recently launched a small private beta, however, we noticed that forms with validation on each step had significantly lower conversion rates. That wasn’t what we expected. We’re digging into the data before expanding the rollout.

Ian

Sure, might be the case as with single forms and required fields. But required fields means required and each test is different, depending on the situation/data asked etc.
One option could be to make the feature optional, so users can decide if people can progress to the next step without filling forms.

Hi Ian

Appreciate the udpate - I understand your point on coversion rates but I strongly believe there is a need for at least two types.

1) Where the goal is for swift conversion is needed

2) Where information capturing is needed - in our use case we need certain medical info captured to ensure we can best support our workshop participans and our customers understand this and want to share this info - New Participant Form – Helium

Parents/guardians signing up have expressed their frustration on trying to track the missing fields - it causes a very poor UX especially when this feature can be found in other forms but we sold that HubSpot forms would be better.

Please consider the need for these options. Many thanks

@IMcDonald We’re currently using a simple 2-step form on another platform, even though all our data is centralized in HubSpot (which is a hassle to maintain as a developer). The form performs well with strong conversions. This seems like a valuable feature to make available to users, and it shouldn’t be something HubSpot decides to gatekeep. Many of your platform users have been waiting a long time for this.

Really glad to see this is in beta testing right now. It’s a huge issue on the forms with logic. This would be an immense help!

Sounds like Ian has plans for this update, and maybe related to data showing lower conversions this has been pushed back. It would be great if this was a switch/option in settings. “require answer for next step?” yes/no. Then each company can decide for themselves to use this function.
While I want this for some forms, it may not apply to all. The customizable option would be great.
Looking forward to updates. If you’re interested in more beta testers, let us know!

@IMcDonald - Is there an update on this as we approach the 1 year mark?

Any updates on this one? An ETA would be great so we know whether or not to use an alternative solution to Hubspot forms.

Would also love an update here!

@IMcDonald Any update here? We’ve had an influx of users ‘unable to submit’ since moving to the new form builder.

I think people are used to not progressing past a page with details missing from their general experience of using forms.

Any update on this one? Still no visibility of the beta

any updates on this?

Any updates on this? Still seems to be an issue. We’ve had users getting stuck on the second step saying they haven’t filled in the required details even though they have (but they missed something on step 1)

Any updates? Maybe it’s possible to join beta and check it?

Hello, any updates on this?
