How can I lock the ascending order of a column in a view? When I open the Contact and then close it back to the view, the order has changed and I have to find where I was in my list

Once you save a view, that will also save any sorting you have applied.
Some views cannot be saved (the default “All contacts”) is such an example. You would have to clone it first (marked with 1), and can then apply any sorting, changed columns, filters you like. After each change, don’t forget to click the save icon.
If you need this view to be your standard view, drag and drop it to the very left (numbered 2).
