Hi, I’ve just started using Hubspot and I’m quickly becoming overwhelmed by the automatic logging function because it is creating new contacts for all new emails, including my phone company, and back and forths I’m having with people who aren’t contacts and don’t need to become contacts.
Is there a way to automatically log emails to existing contacts and refrain from creating a new contact?
Thanks for the help – Lisa
Hi @LHrabluk
This article talks through the various options of setting up the Gmail extension, the process is similar if you are using the Outlook extension.
In essence you will need to do 2 things.
1. If you don’t want to create new contacts, simply remove them in the settings of the extension.
2. If you want certain contacts to be excluded from ever being logged, you will need to add their emails (or whole email domains) to the never log list in HubSpot.
Last but not least, you always have the option of checking or unchecking the log and track option for each email, as well as deciding against which associated records you want to log a conversation.
I hope that helps.
