HubDB vs Custom Object

Does anyone know what the future holds for custom objects vs HubDB? As both of these are essentially databases, is there a chance that they will ever merge?

How does everyone else manage their website data?

Currently my sales team update Deals on a daily basis, which then automatically syncs to HubDB via a 3rd party API. This in turn drives a lot of the website, but it seems a bit backwards to me to clone 100+ field columns and their data to a second location. It also risks the sync failing and not updating the websitre with the latest information.

It would be a useful too to have a native sync option built into HubSpot that cannects both the CRM and CMS.

Hi @ben-duchy ,

Definitely post this on the ideas forum, because it is a great idea!

However, we can use custom objects pretty similar to how HubDB works. We have dynamic pages, we can query them on the website and if you have CMS Enterprise, we can easily manipulate the data directly from the CMS through serverless functions (although the same can be achieved with an external app).

Hi @Teun,

I’ve had a quick go at creating pages from custom object information, but I find its limited to only 100 rows per 10 calls vs HubDB 1000. Regardless, it’s the deal data that I need most. Unfortunately this can only be accessed on a password protected page - no good for the average user on my employers website.

We have CMS professional so unfortuantely miss out on any extra features on CMS Enterprise, but if you could share any information about serverless functions, it maybe a good persuasion to upgrade.

Hi @ben-duchy ,
Check out this video, it demonstrates how I used serverless functions to associate custom object records to a contact record, but it should give you a clear view of what you can achieve with serverless functions in general.
