I want to know how do I allow users to use my hubdb table created by me in thier table when they install my theme. (PS - this is for a theme uploaded in Marketplace)
Hi @MNongrum2,
This isn’t possible, HubSpot marketplace doesn’t support HubDB yet.
yes I get that it doesn’t support HubDB. But I have a theme which uses HubDB and this theme is to be uploaded in the marketplace, surely there must be some way to do it.
Hi @MNongrum2,
It’s just not possible as far as I know. HubSpot marketplace will flag your theme and block its submission if any module includes a HubDB field.
The only workaround is to manually migrate your hubDB module to the client/target portal.

Hey @MNongrum2,
it’s not just not possible it’s not allowed for one simple reason:
If somebody downloads/buys your theme but hasn’t HubDB, he can’t use this feature. It won’t be an “upselling point” or similar as HubDB is only available in Pro and Enterprise.
There are only a few things you could do:
- Remove the HubDB functionality from your theme, add it to the marketplace and create a step-by-step guide (blog post on your website, doc in the documentation, youtube video, MD file… - what ever you like) how to get the HubDB functionality in your theme. You can add code examples and such in your guide
- Provide the HubDB functionality/Module as an Addon on your page with a step-by-step guide.
- Drop the HubDB functionality and create a repeater-module with the same fields. If somebody will ask you about “is there a HubDB version of this module”, you can either sell him the HubDB module individually or simply provide it as a download on your page
For more theme requirements for the marketplace - look at the marketplace theme requirements
edit:
you can run
hs theme marketplace-validate <path-to-theme>
in the terminal.
This will give you the first indicator if your theme complies with the marketplace guidelines and has all the min-requirements (there are some that are a bit hidden in the docs).
Unless your theme passes this test without any issues, I wouldn’t even try to upload to the marketplace as it will be rejected automatically. Even before the manual validation by a Marketplace team member will happen.
The guidelines exist for a good reason.
No exception.
best,
Anton
