Hide Custom Object

Hello,
We recently created a custom object that only needs to be available to super admins.
How do I hide this object from everyone without that permission set?

Hi @CWit,

You would have to adjust the user permissions for everyone else: Manage user permissions

(You can’t specify that only super admins get to access something. You need to specify the exact permissions of everyone else who is not a super admin.)

In their permissions or permission sets, you would have to disable create and view permissions for this custom object. That requires a new private beta:

Account Settings

Create permissions for Contacts, Companies, Deals, Tickets, and Custom Objects

January 29, 2025

What is it?

We’ve added new user-level permissions enabling admins to control who can create and/or edit specific object types (Contact, Company, Deal, Ticket, and Custom Objects).

Why does it matter?

Admins can now ensure better data hygiene by separating permissions for editing and creating records. This allows admins to enable users to edit Contacts, Companies, Deals, Tickets, and Custom Objects without automatically granting record creation abilities, addressing customer concerns about data quality and control.

How does it work?

Admins can manage user permissions by navigating to “Users & Teams” to set access levels for creating and editing records like Contacts, Companies, Deals, Tickets, and Custom Objects. Initially, users with edit permissions will automatically have create permissions for those object types.

Known limitations

- Imports are not yet controlled by new create permission

Who gets it?

All Hubs and Editions

You can find this beta under Settings > Product updates > All product updates. If you’re not seeing it yet, you’ll have to be patient for a bit longer.

Best regards!

Hi @karstenkoehler ,

I was also looking for this but it only allows to adjust view/edit/delete permissions for specific objects. Is there a way to completely hide custom objects (or other objects) for users?

Thank you!

Hey @FPalmisano - thanks for following up here!
Curious to see what context @karstenkoehler may have for us!

Custom Objects have permissions like any other object in HubSpot. You can set up a Permission set under Users & Teams > Permission Sets. Just set up a general user permissions set that has what they need and does not give access to the specific Custom Object.
