Why is there so much dead space in the editor?
Currently I can only view 9 lines of code, regardless of how much I expand the field.
It has been like this for months. Will this be fixed soon?

I was looking into this issue but couldn’t reproduce what you mentioned or find any other similar cases.
I recommend trying to access the editor using a different browser to see if the issue still occurs. Additionally, you might want to clear your browser’s cookies and cache before accessing the editor again to see if that resolves the problem.
