Have different options for sorting/ordering articles in Knowledge base

Status: Not Currently Planned

Status history

Currently Hubspot is sorting the new articles in the same category by chronological orders. The latest will be at the bottom of the list and the oldest will be at the top. And users don’t have the option to re-order according to their will, except by dragging them by the wanted order, which will take a lot of time if the list is long.

The need here is to provide more options to the users, so that they can order the list according to their need.

For our company’s need, we would like to sort otherwise: the latest will be at the top and the oldest will be at the bottom.

I agree- new articles were previously added at the top of the category. It is a nuisance to have to manually update the category for every new article published. There should be a default that we can set to determine if the newest articles should be at the top or bottom of the category, and then we can still manually move them if required.

This is a basic request!

100% agree. Lack of this feature adds regular manual work to sort articles.
Most likely few basic sorting options would cover majority of the cases:
1 - Display latest articles at the top
2 - Display latest articles at the bottom
3 - Sort by alphabetical order
Thanks for raising it @FDo
Hope this request would be considered in a while.

I also agree. In the case of where we have release notes that we publish. So, to see the latest, the user must scroll through ALL in the list to find the one at the bottom. It seems that having them in an order matching below AND/OR giving users the option to select how they show would be awesome!

1 - Display latest articles at the top
2 - Display latest articles at the bottom
3 - Sort by alphabetical order

Maybe, even instead of giving folks the option to select how they are displayed, give the end user the option to sort themselves how they want to view it by adding sort options on the table. Show the name, the created date/last updated, etc. and allow sorting at the end user level.

I agree with that. But I would like to see further sorting: The most helpful articles, i.e. the articles that are the most helpful at the top.

It is utterly bonkers that the newest cannot be defaulted to the top. We’re currently using this for release notes for customers to access. We now have 40 release note articles. The newest is hidden by default because you have to expand it to see more. Meaning if there is a big new release we can’t use the standard functionality alone, we’ve had to create a ‘Promoted’ releases subcategory to work around this.

@JMcMahon090780 - we use ours for release notes as well. Multiple users have mentioned that having to scroll to find the latest one prevents their users from finding the information we are intending to share/communicate. This is likely one of the top issues we experience with the Knowledge Base and is one of the reasons we can’t 100% adopt it for usage.

I agree here. How is Alphabetical Order not the default? Other ways to sort would also be nice. This seems like this would be a quick win. But we’ll probably have to wait four years for an update.

Hi everyone,

Thank you for taking the time to share this idea! We don’t currently have plans to build this functionality. We’re currently investing in helping you all provide answers to your users as quickly as possible versus webpage navigation, and we want to be thoughtful about staying focused there.

We revisit our roadmap regularly, and customer ideas like this one do influence what we prioritize. Thank you!
