Growing Instagram page

Hey, I have a Instagram account where I want to start uploading my music/singing video. Since I’m not a pro at singing (a beginner), how would it be possible to attract audiences and get more views or followers? In my opinion I can do something like, using the emotions of my audiences by covering songs that are old and in general no one covers these songs anymore because they are not on trends. Is it a good idea?

Hi @Soujashree1,

This is a great question to leverage generative AI for. Here’s a breakdown of how to grow your Instagram music page as a beginner singer:

Covering older, less-trendy songs on Instagram can be a viable strategy for growing an audience, particularly for beginner singers. This approach leverages the concept of nostalgia, which is a strong emotional trigger for many listeners. When users encounter songs that are familiar but not commonly featured in current trends, it can create a sense of connection or curiosity, which may improve engagement.

This is not expert advice, but rather a general starting point for content development on platforms like Instagram. Outcomes can vary based on numerous factors including consistency, content quality, and audience targeting.

There are several practical considerations to support audience growth:

  1. Content Format: Short-form videos (typically under 30 seconds) tend to perform better on Instagram Reels due to algorithmic preferences. Beginning with a strong lyric or emotionally impactful moment can increase viewer retention.
  2. Consistency: Regular posting is generally more effective than waiting for perfect content. Many users respond well to progress and authenticity, which can be particularly beneficial for beginners who are still improving their skills.
  3. Engagement: Captions that provide personal context for a song or prompt viewer interaction (such as asking for song suggestions) can increase comments and shares. This may help with visibility in the platform’s algorithm.
  4. Niche Selection: Covering songs that are less saturated in the current content landscape may differentiate a creator from others. This can be especially useful for new accounts without an established following.
  5. Hashtags and Metadata: Using a mix of niche and general hashtags may help reach both targeted and broader audiences. Limiting hashtags to a relevant set (around 10–15) is a commonly suggested practice.
  6. Audio and Visual Quality: While professional equipment is not necessary, ensuring clear audio and adequate lighting can contribute to a more engaging experience for viewers.
  7. Content Series: Creating recurring formats (e.g., “Throwback Thursdays” for old songs) may help in building audience expectations and habitual engagement.

This framework is not a guarantee of growth, but it can serve as a foundational strategy for those starting out. Audience building typically requires experimentation, adaptation, and consistent effort over time.

Hope this helps!

Thank You So much:heart:, but I want you to know that my account has already established followers (over 4.5k). But the problem is not all of my followers likes or comments on the posts. Should I remove followers who do not care about my content? Would it affect Instagram algorithm?
Oh I forgot to mention, I have never uploaded my singing video before.
