Hello,
I have forwarded an email a few times to different people, I’ve made sure to delete the BCC email address that is populated into the BCC field to make sure I wouldn’t be messing up with the tracking functionality, and clicked on the Hubspot icon so it’d come up with another tracking code.
Then I noticed all 50 emails sent were tracked to all 50 senders… why is that?
Thanks
Hi @CDesiderio,
Could you share some more details as to what exactly you did? Are you using HubSpot Sales for Gmail, Outlook or Office 365? Which HubSpot icon did you click, could you share a screenshot, what is the label of the icon? The more details, the better we can help.
Overall it sounds like you first disabled and then re-enabled the tracking.
Best regards!
We have experienced the same problem with forwarding emails. In our case, using the Chrome extension on gmail, an email with several attachments is sent to one contact. That email is then forwarded separately to another contact, and then another and so on. This could be upwards of emails to 40 totally unrelated contacts across several days. It is done in this way one) so we don’t have to keep reattaching the documents and two) because while the bulk of the content is the same, each email is personalized to each contact. As the original poster described, this has resulted in each contact and their associated companies showing up as associated with every one of the 40 emails sent. This leads to several questions:
1) if there is further back and forth dialogue on an email with one specific customer are all 40 contacts receiving those emails?
2) is there a way to stop the associations to all contacts using this method or do we need to find a different way? (Perhaps a gmail template instead of using forward.)
3) is there a way to remove all but the specific contact and their associated company on the emails already sent in bulk or do we have to go in to each specific email in hubspot and manually removing erronious associations?
Looking forward to a reply,
Jim Weston
I am having the same problem as jweston7 as well. An email is sent and tracked to contact a in company a; then fwd to contact b in company b but the info is slightly altered for names and company names. all subsequent fwds are associated in each of the previous companies records. for ex it will show contact a’s response in company b’s profile. There is some weird association when an email is fwd. The weird thing is when my colleague fwd the email it was only fwd to one contact, but it is associating the email with all the contacts and companies that have ever been fwd that email.
