Background
In Form you can use reCAPCHA to validate that it is a person submitting the form. This works well for filtering automations away.
When a person is entering an email it is automatically approved in the form. The user can submit it.
We see real persons adding emails that exist, but does not belong to the user once or twice per day. The form is submitted and our automatic and manual workflows are being processed.
Often the email bounces. Often it turns out that the person with the email did not fill out the form. The latter case increases the risk of our email being flagged as spam.
We want to have the option to add an extra layout of validation. The form cannot be submitted unless the validation code from the email is entered as part of the submit.
Solution
Enable an option for forms called ‘Validate form submit with verification code’.
When the option is set, then the user enters the information into the form. On Submit the system presents a form to the user with text “Please validate your email by pasting the code you have received in your inbox. The message may be in your spam folder”.
The user can enter the text into a field.
The enterered text is trimmed for learning and training whitespace before comparing with expected value.
If the user’s entry passes the validation the contact is created and moved to the next step in the form’s flow.
If it does not pass, the user can request a new code.
