I would like to know if there is any way to change the color (and width) of the actual lines of the input fields with the Liear form theme. I would like to have a lighter shade of grey on them.

Yes, you can do that but you have to make sure that “Set as raw HTML form” option is on in your form and after that you can inspect the CSS properties and change the color and width of the input fields.
