First, I understand the importance of removing unengaged recipients from active lists and suppressing email sends. I formerly worked for a competitor to HubSpot and we enacted a similar framework. However, there is one thing that we did that I think HubSpot can and should implement.
For senders who maintain a healthy sending status (staying below thresholds for spam complaints, hard bounces, and a healthy engagement rate), they should be allowed to turn off the suppression rules. Now, there should be an option to suppress to unengaged recipients because generally I would turn this on. However, there are leads in our list that we’d like to try to reengage periodically and then remove them from our lists as they continue to disengage.
This would empower me as a user to try new subject lines and customization to attempt to reengage these contacts but would also still give me the tools to suppress these folks for our normal marketing emails.
If an account falls into an Unhealthy sending status, the ability to turn off engagement based suppressions would be removed for 90 days until the sender has had a consistent three months of healthy sending.
