Email stacking order on mobile devices

Hello, HS Community,

I’m having some trouble with the way an email newsletter displays on mobile devices.

The stacking order is off. Instead of alternating elements (image, entry, image, entry), I get image, entry, image, image, entry, entry.

The desktop email newsletter looks fine.

Is there a way to control the stacking order of elements on mobile devices?

Thank you all.

AK

Hi @AKubrin9,

Yes, we can change the stacking order in mobile by using direction. Could you please share the coding or screenshot so that I can let you know how exactly you can do the same?

Thanks!

Jasbir

Hi Jasbir,

I took screenshots from my phone, then assembled the pieces into this diagram, and numbered the pieces.

I hope it is clear. Basically, items 3 and 4 are out of order. Reverse them, and all will be well.

How can I do that?

Thanks, and best regards,

Akubrin

Hi Akubrin,

I am understanding your concern, actually you have to apply Dir in the columns to reverse them.

In the mobile left column always comes at the top position, so you have to create your 2-Col section as per the mobile layout means which section you want to keep at the top in the mobile you have to keep that section on the left side and using this direction property you can manage your desktop layout, please refer to the attached screenshot.

If this is not clear you can share your code with me, I will add the dir property in your code.

Thanks!

Jasbir

Hi Jasbir,

I’m beginning to understand. But how do I access the code? I am using the free Marketing hub. I don’t even see a way to edit or export code.

Thank you!

Andy

Hi @AKubrin9,

This needs to be done on the backend level.

From Marketing → Files and Template → Design Studios you can access your code.

Thanks!

Jasbir

Hi @AKubrin9,

Great news, there is now a (private) beta for this :slightly_smiling_face:

Marketing Email

Mobile Optimised Email

August 16, 2024

What is it?

You can now optimise your marketing emails for mobile, enhancing your end recipient experience, improving engagement rates, and ultimately drive higher conversions.

This rollout provides the ability to hide modules and sections on both mobile and desktop, as well as changing the layout and disable automatic column stacking on mobile.

Why does it matter?

Mobile devices are an increasingly popular way for customers to view email campaigns, meaning it’s now more important than ever to design with mobile devices in mind.

The new Mobile Editor for Marketing Email will enhance the email editing experience that visualises how and where more receipients are opening their emails.

How does it work?

To customise which modules or sections appear for desktop or mobile recipients:

  • In your HubSpot account, navigate to Marketing > Marketing Email.
  • Click the name of a drafted email, or click Create email in the top right to create a new email.
  • Click the desktop desktop icon or mobile mobile icon at the top of the email editor to view and configure the settings for each device type.

  • Hover over a module or section and click the hide hide icon to hide that module in the version of the email you’re editing.
  • To show all hidden modules for a version you’re editing, click Show all hidden at the top of the email editor.

To configure different column layout settings between mobile and desktop devices:

  • Click one of the email sections.
  • In the Layout section in the left pane, toggle the All devices switch off, then configure the column layout for Desktop and the stacking layout for mobile.

Who gets it?
