Is it possible to have the fallback for a personalization token in an email include more than just the token itself? If i understand the current functionality correctly, using an example of a personalized email subject with the contact’s first name of “Charles”: “Charles, can blah blah blah…?”, the fallback will only apply to the first name of “Charles”. So if the fallback is a space (" “), the subject in the fallback scenario will read " , can blah blah blah…?”.
Is it possible for the personalization token (and by extension the fallback) to include more than just the field being personalized? For instance, using the above example, it would be great if the personalization included the first name, but also a comma and space (or whatever else i want): “first name, c”. The fallback could then be “C”, with the subject in the fallback scenario being “Can blah blah blah…?”, instead of the current " , can blah blah blah…?" which does not look as natural.
Along the same line, we need to personalize the Subject Line of our emails with first names, but our list is a hodge-podge of incomplete contact information. First and Last names, neither, only last, etc. With that in mind, I need a token that will allow First Name to be in the Subject Line for all contacts we have that info on, but have a fallback that would be “Look” or “Announcing”. My people are not high on the idea of creating separate lists for contacts with no First Name.
Is a fallback available in Hubspot for personalization tokens?
I’ll reply to my own reply because I figured it out, but not through Hubspot. Hubspot needs to be waaaaay better at explaining the nuts and bolts to users. I got the word “fallback” from another site and applied that to a Hubspot search, and Default Value was the diamond right in front of my face that I was over looking.
Our Subject Line will now say, “Bert, our company…” and when there’s no first name in the contact, the text will read, “Thankfully, our company…”
I’m obviously fairly new to Hubspot but this was ridiculously time-consuming. Like pulling teeth, this was. With no pain killer.
