Hi, All. Thanks in advance for the help. My company has used Hubspot for years, but I would consider myself a newbie. The first thing I am trying to do is create a simple email list of best customers in order to set up automations. Despite trying for 2 days and reading endless Hubspot Academy instructions, I am about to give up. Anyone know of a starter’s guide to help me get this done? One that doesn’t assume I know more than I do (ie, working with confusing filters)? I would very much appreciate any feedback!
Hi @BethP10,
Happy to help here. This should be straight forward if you can specify what you mean “best customers”, how would you define these?
Best regards
Hello, Karsten. In the perfect world, I would like lists that define:
- All my current customers
- All my active customers (active=1/1/23 to present)
- All my inactive customers
- All my customers with 2023 billings greater than $50k
After I have these down, I’m looking forward to getting more granular, for
example… all my customers in a specific postal code, all my customers
that are bodegas, all my customers that are big box stores, etc. Once I
learn the basics, I hope all these more specific lists would be easy to
generate.
Thank you so much for the quick reply!
@BethP10 thank you - how exactly do you document in HubSpot whether a customer is current / active? Are you documenting billings in deals?
Hi, my company recently reorganized our sales team into designated
territories on 1/1. I am hoping I can gather my new customers for an
intro.
Billings are documented in Cin7. I am not sure about documenting
whether or not accounts are current beyond what I already see in Hubspot
(maybe our sales management?)
I am admittedly very bad at understanding Hubspot and all its nuances, but
I want to get better… and the reason I have not used it much is simply
that I find it overwhelming.
Feel free to suggest a better way to do things that will accomplish my
goals?
Beth
@BethP10 the difficult part here is not creating the list, it’s finding out where exactly the information sits that you want to filter for. That’s unfortunately also the part that I can’t help with.
Can you check with sales management which fields they use in HubSpot to store customer status, billings etc? If the data exclusively live in Cin7 and there isn’t any integration, you can’t filter for it in HubSpot. In that case, either an integration would have to be established or you would have to export data from Cin7 and import it in HubSpot.
@karstankoehler Thank you so much for your help. It’s a new day, and I am
taking a new approach this morning. I very much appreciate your notes and
suggestions, which seem to be right on. Beth
