Edit mrr amount - Billing schedule

Hi,

I have a deal with a line item. term 12 months. Billing freqvency “Monthly”. I would like to “see” the billing schedule and have oppotunity to edit the amount for a specific month.

ex 1000 a month for twelve months. start date 01 Jan. I would like to maybe exclude billing in July and bill 2000 in Aug.

Is this possible in Hubspot? works fine in Salesforce and ERP/subscription solutions.

Hey @CJ_Ahlsell,

Thanks for bringing this to the Community!

I’d love to get some folks from the community to weigh in here --

Hey @GRajput, @rebeccatravels, @RomyFuchs1 -- do you have any suggestions for this one? Specifically around editing individual months in a billing schedule on a deal?

Thanks in advance!

Sam, Community Manager

I actually create all of mine manually because the subscription solution doesn’t work for me for similar reasons. First, the initial payment is often pro-rated. Second, we bill up front, but send it net 30 (and again, the first payment doesn’t work like that often).

I have talked to the product team several times as this is table stakes for agencies, so my great hope is this is on a product roadmap.

Thanks for your input!

I think my suggested solution will be a “shadow pipeline” called forecast/billing schedule and create a unique deal for each sales item on the original deal. Then create the billing schedue using the line items for that forecast deal.

It recuires a lot of coding and managing changes on the orginal deal and got to do that with custom coded workflows. The solution get quite expensive for the customer for a function Salesforce and many ERP have as a standard.

I’ve run into similar situations with clients who need exceptions in recurring billing. Most billing systems handle standard subscriptions well, but once you need to skip a month, change a single payment, or adjust the schedule, things become much more complicated than they should be. It feels like there should be a simple way to edit individual billing periods without rebuilding everything manually.

I agree this would be a useful feature. Recurring billing is rarely the same for every customer, and having the flexibility to adjust a single billing period without rebuilding the subscription would save a lot of manual work. Hopefully this makes it onto the product roadmap.

Hi everyone!

I know this has already been marked as resolved but I also ran into this myself and wanted to mention our process in case it’s helpful.
We also use Subscriptions for our monthly recurring billing, and although I have never seen a full timeline view showing all upcoming payments at once, there is an option to change the next payment and all payments going forward for that subscription.

That can be done from within the Subscription record, or the Subscription Object Home screen and altering the “Next Payment Amount” field, which is how we update ours.

I know this is not ideal, as it does not allow editing of all months at once like you need, but until HubSpot gives us that functionality (which would be awesome) you should at least have access to update the next subscription payment for billing adjustments.

One more note: I believe the Legacy “Quotes” object will allow you to set individual monthly payments ahead of time, but you lose a lot of other automation and functionality going that route so not sure it’s worth exploring but wanted to mention it.

Hopefully that helps!
