When you attach a PDF to a marketing email and the end user (email recipeient) clicks on the link to download the PDF. Regardless of whether the pdf downloads automatically (but especially in that case) or if the user has to click the download button, there should be an acknowlegement that the download has occured. In the case where it downloads automatically, you are just left with a blank screen. For example the page should say something like ‘Thank you for downloading our report’. This is considered best practice from an end user experience so that they can be assured they have downloaded the file immediately.
