In the “Single Object Report Builder” (URL with /report-builder/) you can easily “Compare Date Ranges” by clicking Display options>Comparison>Compared to last year:
However, the new “Custom Report Builder” (URL with /advanced-builder/) which we use more often recently, doesn’t have this option, right?
Please correct me if I am wrong, otherwise I think this would be a valuable feature request 
I would love to know how to do this as well, or would love to see HubSpot add that feature!
I would also have the comparison option available in the custom reports

I wanted to reach out to let you and all of those following this idea that you can now compare multiple time periods side-by-side in any XY and KPI visualization within the custom report builder using the new “Date part” feature. With the new date part option, you can get a more granular view of your data, such as viewing performance by day of the month, day of the week, or day of the year.
Without the “Date part” feature, you were not able to automatically see how one time period performed compared to another when building a custom report. You were not able to answer simple questions, such as, “Comparing this year to last year, which months do we close the most deals?” or more specific ones like, “What hour of the day do customers most frequently engage with our emails?”
Today, these questions will no longer go unanswered. You are able to break down any date-based field into a specific date part within your report, which grants you even more control over how your report is visualized. This gives you deeper insight into not just which time period performed best but when.
Additionally, building date range comparison reports can be done in an instant. When configuring your report, there is a new “Compare by” feature that allows you a quick-start option for comparing your data. All it takes is dragging in a date field, selecting your rolling filter period—such as today to yesterday, this week to last week, this year to last year, or even a custom rolling date range—and choosing what date part you’d like to break your data into.

While this is great it doesn’t actually go across KPIs when you want to show more than one value. For example, I want to be able to show Current Year Performance vs. Prior Year performance and growth % for Delivery Rate, Open Rate, Click Through Rate, Click Rate and Bounce Rate. I can not add all of these values to the custom builder and then add the Sent Date or any date field in the Compare By . I can only add one (1) KPI at a time. This is not ideal when you are trying to maximize space in reports and dashboards. The interesting part is that you already have this report as a template to select but I can’t customize it to only see the cohort of emails I want to analyze. I need to be able to use our naming conventions to break down by Vertical and Geo. It would be great if you could open up the template report so it can be customized or update the custom reporting capability to expand beyond one (1) value or KPI at a time.

Following this idea and hoping HubSpot doesn’t mark it as completed, because the objective the OP requested has not yet been implemented. It’s frustrating how many differences in filter and segmentation options exist between HubSpot report types. When I want to show a basic KPI chart with a comparison calculation, including the red/green down/up arrow and data label indicating the percentage change, I have to use a single object report. It seems like the vastly more complex custom report builder would include that basic functionality, but it doesn’t work the same way. However, if I need to use filter groups and boolean logic, I have to use the custom report builder and sacrifice the comparison indicator, which in the custom report builder replaces all date property filters and therefore does not work for complex reporting needs requiring multiple date properties. The custom report builder includes filter options such as “has ever been any of,” but the single object report builder doesn’t. I have a reporting use case right now that requires all of this functionality. When a dashboard includes reports built with different report types, this can lead to the reports displaying minor differences in totals on the same dashboard due to the differences in filter functionality. To the average stakeholder and end user, that looks like a data error, and decreases trust in reporting.
100% agreed. @kit-lyman the feature mentioned above is nice, but it doesn’t replace the feature “compared to last year”. +1 urgently needed to build reliable dashboards.
Thank you for articulating this so well! I agree that this feature update gets us closer but does not solve our issue either! We really need the ability to compare to a rolling date range as opposed to just one month compared to the previous month. We also don’t need to see the previous month’s values we just want to see the percentage change. Agree with you on the data being slightly different when using the single object report builder vs the custom object report builder.
