Hi HS Community!
We are a custom manufacturer and are looking at ways to refine our data to allow the complexities of our products to no create as much noise.
This will get complex so hang with me.
Currently, deals are mostly generated via a website submission or created by a salesperson manually. Its common that a very complex project might have multiple milestones and we want to track the timing and revenue of those milestones. So, what starts as one deal might be split into 2-3. Paid Samples, Paid Trial, Production. Right now, we just backdate deals to the same start date manually to track the time but the lead/customer/company to deal ratio gets inflated when this happens.
In other scenarios, a customer might reach out to us with a “project” that is 4-5 unique parts. To accurately track the completion of each part, we create a separate deal for each and align the dates manually as above.
For now, only new business flows through HubSpot and Existing all takes place in our Oracle ERP.
If we wanted to pull reporting on deal progression stage to stage, our creation of multiple deals creates a lot of noise in this metric. But if we didn’t split deals up, we’d lose the tracking on timing and revenue for critical milestones.
Our thought is to create a custom “Projects” object that every deal will associate to. Even for a simple deal that is not split, it would be associated to 1 project. Or, multiple deals to one project.
Any advice on using a projects function like this or other ways to look at this issue are appreciated!
