Am I the only one having a terrible time using the CTA editor ever since the UI was recently updated and all of the editing tools moved into the left-hand side panel (around July/August 2026)? It’s a nightmare trying to edit things now.
How do I get the alignment right for text post-update? None of the alignment options I have do anything at all when selected, and most of the alignment options I used to have are gone?

@Des44 Hiya! Not entirely sure what the UI looks for you in particular as portals have incremental rollout and my interface may look slightly different from yours. Troubleshooting what the issue may be, I think the problem may be a constraint in the template itself or if you’re not locating the alignment button?
In my experience, when you are editing a CTA and working with areas that are rich text fields the UI hides some of the controls under the More button.
So if you open a CTA > click on the section to align text > go to the editor in the left side panel > click More > you’ll find the icon for text alignment.
In the example image above, I can get the bottom area right-aligned but not the header which has a constraint in the template’s design. As you can see below, even though editing mode shows it’s in another alignment it will not show visually.
To circumvent this, I added a new rich text field and set it to the same header size as the old one, which could be aligned differently. Then in the Content tab settings, delete the old header section, the new replacement is now aligned like I want the style to be.

It may be worth checking whether the alignment is inherited from the CTA’s parent container or theme settings. Testing the editor in an incognito window could also rule out a browser cache issue. If it continues, sharing the browser name and a screenshot may help HubSpot support reproduce it.
Hi @JasmineOejbro thanks for the reply. I can locate the text alignment buttons, and I don’t use templates. I design our CTAs from scratch.
The issue isn’t aligning the text within a rich text element. It’s the removal of element alignment controls that were available in the previous editor experience.
Previously, we had options beneath the padding fields to align elements horizontally (left/center/right) and vertically (top/middle/bottom) within a section or column. Those options have been removed. You can now only vertically align elements within a row.
This causes a problem because rich text elements appear to shrink to the width of the text itself.
The remaining left, center, and right alignment options only position the text within that limited width. They do not move the element to the left or right edge of the section or column containing it.
Individual element padding controls also no longer appear to work.
Changing an element’s padding has no visible effect, even after refreshing, logging out and back in, or testing in an incognito window. The only workarounds are adding line breaks or editing the inline CSS.
I also contacted HubSpot support, and they were able to replicate both issues. I understand the available workarounds and can use them for now, but members of my team who aren’t familiar with editing inline CSS cannot.
This is a significant setback for our workflow and a loss of functionality that was available in the previous editor.

I’m not to savvy on the design of these CTAs, so I’m assuming you’re mostly using the drag-and-drop feature here.
I can see some of the issues you’re describing as well.
For adding alignment vertically on items in the same row, it doesn’t seem to work for me:
I am getting padding controls to work on on individual items though:
I can manipulate padding on a full column, so parts of the design can have different settings that way:
For the above, the first column has the samme padding settings and the rich text with the headline is right-side aligned. It matches the edge of the following rich text field satisfactory.
The second column has the same settings in the rich text fields but different column padding settings. I’ve not touched margin setting, but that obviously also has an impact.
I’m assuming you’re placing all items in the same column or have already looked at the column specific settings, and that what I and you can/can’t edit are down to portal specific updates (meaning we are affected by different tiny rollouts and updates impacting what we can/can’t do).
For a resolution I think you’re stuck with either pushing more on Technical Support to try to get an answer as to when/if the features you need are planned to be reintroduced to your portal, and/or open a request in the HubSpot Ideas board to bring back the richer editing experience.
