To link two HubSpot domains cookies together and confirm that they belong to the same visitor, you need to enable cross-domain tracking in HubSpot. This allows HubSpot to track visitors as they navigate between two different domains that have the same HubSpot tracking code installed.
To enable cross-domain tracking, you will need to add both domains to the “Tracking & Analytics Domains” list in your HubSpot account settings. This will ensure that HubSpot can track visitors as they move between the two domains.
It is not necessary for the visitor to click on a direct link from one domain to the other for cross-domain tracking to work. HubSpot will automatically link the visitor’s cookies from one domain to the other as they navigate between the two domains, as long as both domains have the same HubSpot tracking code installed and cross-domain tracking is enabled.
Without cross-domain tracking enabled, there is no way to associate HubSpot cookie 1 (on site A) with the same visitor as HubSpot cookie 2 (on site B).
Can you please confirm if a direct link is necessary from one domain to the other and if the visitor needs to click on that link? How can I keep the same HS cookie for a user when he only visited a site and there wasn’t a direct link.
@ABernstein here’s a HubSpot resource on how their cookie tracking works. When you enable cross-domain tracking, the HubSpot tracking code does its magic. Then when they convert via a form and you have their email, it connects in the anaylitics and you can see their data.
When I test it, I find that I have 2 seperated HS cookies for the same user. I will provide the scenario again. I have site A (user only visited), user continues (directly, not from site A) to site B (user fill a form). I want to see Site A as Page First Seen.
Hmm… I’d reach out to HubSpot Support on this one and see if there’s something not connected, or if their documentation isn’t accurate. I believe your scenario should play out how you describe it according to the HubSpot documentation.
I have already spoken with them, and they stated that there needs to be a link between site A and site B. However, I am confident that there is a workaround that only applies to the user’s visit. Do you know anyone who may have a solution for this issue?

Since this is the expected behavior of the tool as confirmed by our Support team, @himanshurauthan and @danmoyle, I’m afraid I don’t have a workaround

Perhaps you could check with a developer to see if they are aware of a custom workaround? Just a thought
