Conversion Reports Based on Company Lifecycle Stage

Status: Idea Submitted

As a B2B company, our sales team’s job is to convert companies from Lead to MQL to SQL to Opportunity to Customer (depending on type of rep). But as a manager, I have no ability to build reports showing what conversion looks like across those stages since there is no “entered at” timestamp associated with lifecycle stage changes.

I get that HubSpot’s roots are more marketing and contact-centric, but this is pretty prohibitive for a B2B company. I just finished rearchitecting our entire HubSpot instance to help reps move companies through lifecycle stage under the assumption we could create conversion reports, but now I’m completely flying blind as to performance… I’m honestly a little confused as to why this doesn’t exist. Am I using lifecycle stage improperly or is HubSpot just not really designed for B2B companies?

Yes really need this too. Saw on another post that there’s something in beta for the funnel report. Hopefully the ‘date entered ____’ lifecycle properties for Companies will be available to use in reports too. We can’t report at a contact level because it will over-inflate our numbers.

Commenting again because it’s becoming a real problem not being able to report on movement from one lifecycle to another for Companies. We really really really need those entered stamps for Companies so we can report on how many entered each lifecycle in a given month. Blows my mind that this is not possible.

Even having something where we can say ‘lifecycle stage’ was updated from Lead to MQL from 1st of the Month til 31st of the Month would be helpful. In lists you can say ‘was updated in last X days’ but that can’t be used as a workaround either because that’s just a blanket was updated during that period, rather than updated from 1 specific lifecycle to another. Surely they can pull the date history out of the lifecycle property to enable this type of reporting.

Up!! Lifecycle stages on contacts and deal stages on deals are so nicely detailed. It’s an absolute shame that the same can’t be said for companies. I’ve had to come up with over 10 custom properties and workflows setting each of those. But the way we handle lifecycle stages makes setting up “Date Exited…” field such a nightmare. Having that built in by HubSpot would be a game changer.

This is a problem for us as well (we’re a B2B SaaS company). I’ve manually built “Date Entered X Lifecycle Stage” properties for each of our properties on the company level. These are being automatically set by the workflows we have that set Lifecycle Stage on the company level.

However, I’m torn on the best way to build the Date Exited properties. Because our workflows are meant to operate in a flow (aka: a company starts at pre-lead, then goes to lead, then MQL, etc.), I was thinking I could set “Date Exited X Stage” at the beginning of each of the next workflows (ex: set “Date Company Exited MQL” at the beginning of the SAL workflow). The issue with this is that we’re still making updates to our Lifecycle Stage config and it doesn’t work perfectly all the time — this feels like a more risky way to set the property.

There are workflow triggers for when a Property Value is changed TO something, but not FROM something.

@MaicaI Do you have any advice based on the workflows you’ve built?

Up voting this as well. We also focus mostly on B2B and we’ve had a bear of a time trying to report accurately on conversion rates. The contact funnel conversion funnel reports overinflate the numbers and honestly, doesn’t serve a purpose for our business.
