Contacts being overwritten

We are having issues with contacts being overwritten if submissions comes from the same browser for different contacts. It’s crucial for us to have the ability to create new contacts from the same browser.

We’re a university and we have issues where international students use an agent who processes all of their applications on the same computer. It therefore creates one contact with multiple email addresses.

When offers are sent out using one of our workflows, they are going to incorrect email addresses, sometimes a person does not have an offer. I have now suspended the workflow, but we rely on offers and general communications being sent out from Hubspot.

The data that they complete is done using a system called SITS and from SITS there is an API set up to push the data into HubSpot.

I know that I can change the settings on HubSpot forms to get around this, but is there a way to resolve this issue where an API is involved to push data from one system to HubSpot?

We really need to address this ASAP.

Thanks in advance

Hi @LLoughrey just like with the native HubSpot form settings, when you’re using the API you have the same option available.

Within the form editor, “off” will cause contacts to be overwritten and it should be turned “on”:

In the Marketing API for Forms, you would want to set this value to “true” so that new contacts are always created.

--> off = false, on = true

You’re looking for this parameter, if it is set to false you’ll need to change to true:

"createNewContactForNewEmail": true,
