Contact us forms best practices?

Hi,

I set up a contact us form (we’re a B2B company) and currently, all connected properties are on contact level. Are there any best practices for the setup? I’d be especially interested in:

  1. How can I automatically create new company records? I enabled automatic contact creation if the email address is unknown. How should I setup the forms so that a company record is also created or connected to an existing one? I currently only have the company name on contact level (single line text) connected to forms.
  2. Should I include company domain as a field or is email address - that often shares the same company domain - sufficient?

Hi @Fexxi,

In your contact form, you should ask for a company domain and company name. HubSpot will automatically create both contact and company records (interconnected).

Hey @Fexxi,

Hope this helps!

Remove the single-line “Company Name” field on the contact property and instead map “Company Name” on the form to the company property. This will prevent duplication and keep records tidy.

You could also add the company domain field in, though, I’d reconsider this, from a user journey perspective, we know people are time poor and will having this field be a blocker for submissions?

We usually find that by simply changing the company name field from contact to property, HubSpot enriches the record the domain.
