Hi,
When someone has already given their consent, it’s annoying having to give it again. We are in a GDPR-restricted country, so we have to ask for consent to store and process, and of the reasons why I’m suggestion this feature, it has to be in every form. My suggestion would both give a better user experience and lower the threshold to submit forms. Win-win.
It should be possible to do with dynamic fields, hiding (or simply skipping) them if they are already submitted in a different form. Both description and checkboxes should be dynamic.
Example:
I’m downloading a content offer e-book. When I submit the form to get it, I give my consent to store and process my personal data. I also subscribe to a newsletter. The Description says:
In order to provide you with the content you’re asking for, we need your permission to store and process your data by checking the mandatory checkbox. We also need you to confirm by checking the box for our newsletter if you want us to keep you updated on news and tips regarding our products and services.
I tick both boxes, and submit the form.
A few days later I read a blog post, since I got a nice welcome email with some relevant links. The blog post has another content offer, and I go to the landing page to submit the form to get it. As I have already given my consent, the text is different this time:
You have already given us your consent to process and store your personal data. Therefore, there is no checkbox for this. Please read about how and why we store and process your data in our [privacy policy page], where you’ll also find information about how you can ask us to update or delete your data and withdraw your consent if you wish to do so.
You have already subscribed to our newsletter. If you wish to change your subscription setting, go to your [your subscription settings page].
This time, the form also offers subscribing to another newsletter, a weekly update for a specific product or service. This I haven’t seen before, so the description and consent is present in the form:
Would you like weekly updates on [our product or service]? Tick the box below, and we’ll keep you up to speed!
[checkbox].
Make sense? Please comment if you have suggestions on the best way to acheive this, and I’ll update the post if something seems like the perfect solution.
And if this is already possible, while respecting the GDPR requirements of having an active and spesific consent in order to store & process and to communicate, then my bad. Sorry.
