I’m looking for best-practice guidance on testing changes for a payments auditing app.
I have a custom app that helps us audit payments and validate that our data is correct. The app is live and working, but I want to make improvements. Ideally, I’d like to test changes in a sandbox or developer account before deploying to production. However, in both environments I’m not able to work with the Commerce objects I need for end-to-end testing.
What’s the recommended approach for safely testing updates before publishing live?
- Is there a supported way to get a true staging environment that includes Commerce objects?
- Or is the standard practice basically: develop locally → publish → verify → rollback/re-deploy as needed?
